If you remember from some of my posts last year, I mentioned that one way to get to my daughter's school was to cut through a small woods. Well two weeks ago when the school closed for the Easter vacation it was wet and not yet showing much if any signs of spring. So imagine my surprise to see it full of blooming wood anemone flowers, lady's cuckoo foot sprays, violas, celandines and a few just beginning to open bluebells.
I could have kicked myself yesterday for forgetting to pick up the camera but we still took a longer way home and walked through the woods yesterday to see what else was awakening. When we got to a more grassy, slightly boggy area we came across cowslips and coltsfoot (now nearing its end) and many more pretty sights (including a sunning comma butterfly).
So today I remembered to pick the camera up and took that slightly longer way through the woods again. I have created a short video of some of the pictures I took today to share with you all, hope you enjoy it.
So if you go down to the woods today what sights might you see?

Fabulous Kella, what a lovely place to walk. I love the cowslips and the ladybird pic.
ReplyDeleteThanks Maureen, its only a small wood but it is lovely to visit at any time through out the year, each season brings a fresh look.

Jo, I'm afraid it only enjoyed in the afternoons now as she walks herself to school and because she is not allowed to go through on her own she has to take a different route.
In the mornings it is really nice and I miss the bird song that is heard predominantly at that time of the day.
I love walking through woods, there is something very relaxing about being amongst those huge trees and all that wildlife.
ReplyDeleteoh Kella...pictures like these were just what I needed to lift my spirits..thank you for sharing :-)
ReplyDeleteScented Sweetpea, you are so right about it being relaxing, have you ever noticed how its not possible to hussle quickly through a wood, I always no matter how quick I plan to be slow down :)
