Nesting Great Tit Update
First off here is a recording of the little chicks before they left us.
.
Something maybe a cat attempted to get through the defences, (can you see how the urn is upsidedown) but all was well and I put them back upright.
Mummy and daddy were very busy and visited and fed them right up till dark every night they were here.
The last bank holiday monday of May, we were aware they were ready to fledge and had hoped to witness the event but alas they sneaked out and went on their merry way with out a backward glance when we were all otherwise engaged :( We think there were at least 6 chicks but since we didn't get to see them fledge we'll never really know.
The Flower Beds
Like I said before the flower garden has really excelled this year and that's with minimum input from me. The weather i think had a lot to play in this. the early spring was dry so things didn't grow quickly and overly soft, which means that when the rains did return the plants were at the perfect height and their stems were not soft but lovely and firm, so there was very little falling down or need to apply stakes for support. The fox gloves are in their element and the bees are well happy.
Blues and Violets
Some Succulents
LadyBugs are still about...
